Isotechnika’s anti-rejection drug tested

Isotechnika said Monday TAFA93, which is being developed for preventing organ rejection in transplants, looks safe in phase 1 trials.

The company said once-daily doses of up to 0.16 mg/kg TAFA93 were safe and well tolerated in healthy volunteers in a phase 1a trial. No adverse events were reported.

In a phase 1b trial, 36 healthy volunteers received either placebo or oral doses of the compound for 13 days. No serious adverse events were reported and TAFA93 appeared very well tolerated, and showed stable and linear pharmacokinetics.

Randall Yatscoff, Isotechnika’s president and CEO said TAFA93 may deliver “optimized immunosuppressive efficacy and reduced side effects normally associated with this drug class.”

Isotechnika said the phase 1 results fulfill their commitment to Atrium Medical Corporation and allow that company to move forward with their drug eluting stent technology program.
