India joins hands with global body for vaccine research
New Delhi, April 12 The union cabinet Thursday approved an agreement with the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) headquartered in Seoul for joint vaccine research.
Set up by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), IVI is an international centre for research, training and technical assistance for vaccine production in developing countries.
According to the official release, India could be offered a place on the board of trustees and would be able to play a role in the formulation of international policy related to vaccines.
China, Brazil, Egypt, Pakistan, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Israel, Turkey and the World Health Organisation are some of IVI’s current members. (IANS)
