U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Finds HPV-Related Application by Grant Life Sciences is ‘Patentable’

Grant Life Sciences (OTC Bulletin Board: GLIF) announced today that it has received notice from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, acting as the International Preliminary Examining Authority on behalf of the World Intellectual Property Organization, that one of the Company’s exclusively licensed international patent applications–’PEPTIDES FROM THE E2, E6 AND E7 PROTEINS OF HUMAN PAPILLOMAVIRUSES 16 AND 18 FOR DETECTING AND/OR DIAGNOSING CERVICAL AND OTHER CANCERS’–meets the criteria for patentability–i.e., it possesses novelty, inventive step, and industrial applicability compared to known prior art.

This international patent application is part of a comprehensive intellectual property patent portfolio focusing on HPV detection and diagnostic technologies, including domestic patents, international patents and patent applications, which are exclusively licensed to Grant Life Sciences.

“We are extremely pleased by this milestone event,” said Stan Yakatan, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Grant Life Sciences. “We now believe that this official communication from the International Preliminary Examination Authority paves the way for us to develop additional valid and enforceable rights in the area of peptides for detecting and/or diagnosing cervical and other HPV-related cancers.”
