Kunming (China), March 2, More than 37o people suffered food poisoning after eating at a wedding banquet in China’s Yunnan province.

Chen Changfa, a resident of Mengwang village in Linxiang district, held a wedding ceremony Thursday, inviting nearly 400 people to a midday banquet he had prepared at home, said Huang Chengshu, deputy secretary-general of the Lincang city government.

While the banquet was underway, some guests began to suffer from vomiting and diarrhoea. The number of people feeling sick rose rapidly, Huang said.

All the 371 victims were rushed to three hospitals.

By midday Friday, 118 people were still in hospital but out of danger, while the other had been discharged, medical workers said.

The cause of the massive poisoning is being investigated.(Xinhua)
